Innovation Center

The Knight Community Innovation Center is an example of adaptive reuse that re-imagined a Folk Victorian-styled storefront in Milledgeville’s historic commercial district as a symbol of the community’s rebirth.

The Innovation Center is a public space in Baldwin County’s geographical center where community members can meet, conduct business, learn, relax and enjoy access to technological resources and the know-how of Digital Bridges staff members to leverage residents’ inspiration toward the realization of a better quality of life for the community.

With consultation from The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, Digital Bridges created a design concept for the Innovation Center that celebrates the ambiance of Milledgeville’s commercial district while presenting a forward-thinking façade treatment that paves the way for the reinvention of the community in the 21st Century.

In keeping with Digital Bridges’ shop-local philosophy, Milledgeville-Baldwin County craftsmen and contractors completed all restoration and renovation work in the Knight Community Innovation Center. And to show community members and visitors alike that you don’t have to leave Milledgeville to find the creativity and artistic vision that can set you apart, Digital Bridges commissioned regionally renowned—and Milledgeville-based—industrial artist Matt McGee to interpret Digital Bridges’ logo in brushed aluminum on the Innovation Center façade.

In addition to the Innovation Center’s public areas, there also are conference facilities that can be rented to public and private organizations for hosting events, workshops and conferences.
